Leader of the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has restated his resolve to actualise Biafra as an independent nation, declaring that adopting Nigeria was adopting slavery, corruption, poverty, marginalisation, inequality and instability.
Speaking through the group’s Director of Information, Mr. Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike said Biafra could never be wished away, while stressing that there is Biafran blood in every Igbo man.
He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to allow Biafrans secede; saying granting independence to Biafra will be good for Nigeria and all other ethnic nationalities.
“If I will not get Biafra, I wouldn’t have come out to start talking about it in the first place and the nonviolence method which I understudied for years in India would be defeated,” he said.
“We are firm that Biafra can never be wished away. Therefore, under the present circumstance, we humbly apply to be admitted, registered or treated as the case may in any of the organ of the United Nations, having denounced our Nigerian nationality.
“Adopting Nigeria as our country would mean adopting slavery, corruption, inequality, poverty, marginalisation and instability,” Uwazurike stated.
He said Biafra is currently struggling to gain her independence from Nigeria through non-violence method, while urging world leaders and all other peace-loving people of the world not to permit “the grand conspiracy being perpetrated against the Igbo” to continue.
