Despite calls from many quarters for President Muhammadu Buhari, to seek the services of former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Charles Soludo, former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, or former Presidential candidate, Pat Utomi, as his Economic Adviser, the President has on Wednesday, August 10, sworn into office Dr. Adeyemi Dipeolu, as his Special Adviser on Economic Matters.
Apart from Dipeolu, others who had oath of office administered on them before the commencement of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, which the President presided over at the presidential villa, Abuja, were the Special Adviser on Social Investment, Maryam Uwais; Special Adviser on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu; Special Adviser on Planning, Tijani Abdullahi; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rafiu Enikanolaye.

Dipeolu, Uwais and Ojudu are however, to continue their work under the Office of the Vice President, while Abdullahi, has been deployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Dipeolu, was the Director of the Capacity Development Division, of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, ECA, till December, 2015.
He studied Economics at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, where he won two merit scholarships as a National Scholar, and UAC of Nigeria Scholar.
Dipeolu, further obtained his doctorate degree in Economics from the University of South Africa. He also got his M.Phil degree in Economics and Politics of Development with Distinction from the University of Cambridge, and won the Jennings Prize of Wolfson College for outstanding performance.
He serves on the boards of a number of non-profit organisations, dedicated to education, gender, and public policy issues.
