A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused an application by Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East, PDP in the National Assembly, to stop the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police from effecting his arrest and extradition to the US.
Justice Okon Abang today ruled that the application is incompetent, adding that the security agencies deserve to be served notice to show cause before the order is granted. He adjourned hearing till Sept. 8 to enable the applicant to serve all the respondents with motion on notice.
Kashamu’s counsel, Godswill Mrakpor, had asked the court to grant urgent hearing to the application. He had informed the court that there are moves to arrest and transport Kashamu to the US to face drug-related charges.
