Resurgent militant group, Niger Delta Avengers has dismissed insinuation that it is a terrorist group, stressing that it is only fighting for the betterment of the oil rich region.

Speaking with a BBC reporter, Avengers explained that the motive behind their persistent attacks were not for selfish reasons but to see that the Niger Delta region is developed by the Federal Government.

According to the video, the separatist group maintained that things will get worse if the government fails to meet its demand.

The group which has claimed responsibility for several attacks on crude oil installation in the Delta region said, “We have carried out a lot of attacks on pipelines, stations and platforms.

“We are not terrorist, we are only fighting for our right, we have been taken for granted and enslaved for many years and now enough is enough.

“We are not fighting for selfish purpose, we are doing it so that our communities will be developed.”

Warning that if the Federal Government fails to meet their needs, the Avengers said, “Things will get worst, it’s better for the country to divide so we know where we belong.”
