The emir of Kano and former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Muhammadu Sanusi II has blamed the immediate past president
Goodluck Jonathan for not supporting the independence of a Palestinian state during his administration. Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, on Wednesday, August 10 urged the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to back the need for a free Palestinian state.

The programme which was held in Kano, Northwest Nigeria, was put together by the Centre for Promotion of Shari’a in partnership with Jama’atut Tajdidil Islamiya and the Afro- Middle East Centre, South Africa.
The emir of Kano decried the fact that the government of the immediate past president of the nation was to be held responsible for the failure of Palestinian state, which ought to have put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories at the UN security council.
While making his intention known, Emir Sanusi said: “For decades Nigeria has been in the support of free Palestine until during the Jonathan era when Nigeria played a vital role in the loss of Palestinian bid to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories at the UN security council. I believe it is time for Nigeria to revisit its stand on Palestine”, He said.
