Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, who clocked 75 years yesterday has declared that he is not an ‘evil genius’ as most Nigerians think.
He recalled that the toughest experience of his life has been the Nigeria Civil War fought between 1967 and 1970.

“My greatest experience I think was the movement from Enugu to Umuahia. It was very tough and challenging; you need to be physically fit to be able to undertake such thing because we were moving on our feet and we had to go through the jungle, mountains, hills and so on. It was the toughest experience I’ve ever had.”
He also said that he is not the evil genius that a lot of people think he was, saying that,
“I have an excellent background. I am not the evil that a lot of people think I am. I have an excellent background and by my training, I am trained to love people.”
General Babangida, who spoke to newsmen in Minna on Tuesday as part of activities to mark his 75th birthday which comes up today declared that people misunderstood and dubbed him evil because of the job he was doing.
“I was bound to be misconstrued and people will take it like that but I consider it as opinions as long as I am not what you think I am, I feel satisfied.”
Asked what he would have done differently if he had the opportunity, the former military president said he would have made the National Assembly a part time business as one of the ways to save cost.
“In 1989, we proposed that the National Assembly should be part-time;

I still believe that if I have the opportunity, I will make the National Assembly part time; I believe in that very strongly; it is all in an effort to cut down the cost of governance.”
