Catholic fiery priest, Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka has severely criticized President Muhammadu Buhari over the economic hardship ravaging the country resulting from what he described as poor leadership under the Buhari-led administration.
Nigerians , the priest said are obviously getting tired adding that he campaigned against the former President Jonathan because of the widespread corruption in the last government in the hope that Buhari's administration would be better following his avowed declaration to fight corruption.
No nation, he said , could survive when the cankerworm of corruption eats deep into its social fabric as was witnessed in the past administration which informed his interest and desire to opt for a change.
The change which eventually came under the leadership of Buhari, he said , is not helping matters as poverty is ''smelling'' in Nigeria. Landlords the fiery Catholic clergy said are lamenting while tenants are hungry and frustrated.
Students can no more pay their school fees and face rustication with every passing day under the present administration. He said he does not need the President to survive after all which informed his interest and desire to speak out being led by the spirit.
On the agitation of militants in the Niger Delta particularly the Niger Delta Avengers, the Rev Mbaka said they are fighting a just cause and berated Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo for calling them criminals. Mbaka questioned the rationale for calling the Niger Delta Avengers criminals who are in fact fighting a just cause considering the degree of damage done to the region's eco-system which has been feeding the nation for decades.
He said a trip to the region would shock the casual visitor the living conditions of a people whose land the treasure that feeds the nation is buried.
On Buhari's appointment, he criticized the President for his lopsided appointments and cautioned him against dancing to the tune of his advisers adding that in Buhari's appointments the Igbos who are in the southeast have suffered marginalization on the scheme of things.
'A hungry man, he said, is an angry man' warning that a man when angry and hunger could do anything that is injurious and dangerous. He reminded President Buhari not to expect to return to power if the present trend continues and expect to be voted out of power in 2019 presidential election.
