The Duke of Westminster has passed away aged 64 after a sudden illness. Billionaire Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, who was once Britain’s wealthiest landowner, died at the Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire this afternoon.
Duke Grosvenor, who is Prince William’s godfather, owns miles of land in London, mostly in West London’s plush Belgravia and Mayfair.
The Duke’s only son, Earl Grosvenor, is Prince George’s godfather.
A spokeswoman for his estate said he had become ill suddenly on his Abbeystead Estate.
