Reports say members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have said they are been marginalized in the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
According to Daily Sun, the CPC members in South-West Nigeria said they were not considered for political appointments by the APC led states and national governments. Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved APC members, Banjo Olalekan, alleged that members of the defunct CPC were treated as second class people in the APC.
He said members of the defunct CPC in Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Lagos states, were not given deserved recognition. Olalekan lamented that the APC members, including members of the defunct CPC worked for the victory of President Buhari in the last general election,
expressing worry about the alleged maltreatment meted to them. The APC chieftain, who was governorship candidate of the CPC in Osun State in 2014 before the formation of APC, appealed to President Buhari to consider members of the defunct party in the South-West for appointments.
He also urged APC governors in the South-West to consider them for political appointments. He added that names of members of the defunct CPC had been submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointments into various political offices, but no positive response. Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalists over the weekend gained upper hands in the battle to win over factions of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), in order to stop the recent attacks on oil and gas facilities in the region and concentrate on the ongoing dialogue with the federal government
