President Muhammadu Buhari may have shown the National Assembly his true colours after reports emerged that he has totally canceled a meting with the leaders.
According to Garba Shehu, the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, the president is not willing to meet with the leadership of the Nigerian Senate as well as other leaders of the National Assembly to break the Ramadan fast with them.
Speaking with Sahara Reporters, Shehu noted that there’s no way the president will still meet with the National Assembly leaders before the end of the Ramadan fast which is likely to end on Monday or Tuesday, June 5 (which has been announced as Public Holiday already).
Different groups and leaders have been hosted by the president since his return to the country from London where he went to treat an ear infection but the National Assembly has been omitted.

About two weeks ago, President Buhari was scheduled to host the leaders of both chambers of NASS to Iftar, but the meeting was canceled a few hours  prior to its commencement, with the Nigerian leader stating that he was bombarded with schedules.
He said: “You will recall that the President spent most of the days in the Ramadan month outside the country.
“By the time he returned, a schedule had already been made for him on those he would be receiving daily.
“On the day fixed for the National Assembly leaders, most of them had prior engagements and so the event could not hold. It is difficult to begin to adjust the schedule when others fixed for other days have been duly informed. It is not by anybody’s making.”
Meanwhile, the Senate has stated that it has been vindicated by the Thursday ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Gabriel Kolawolewhich described the forgery case filed against its presiding officers as an abuse of court process and a decision taken against public interest.
In a statement by its spokesman, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Senate said the ruling by Justice Kolawole further confirmed that Mr Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) was acting personal and partisan script in filing the charges while simply abusing his position as the nation’s chief law officer.
