The leadership tussle in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may soon take a new dimension as all twelve (12) of its governors might dump the party to form a new political party over the insistence of Ali Modu Sheriff to be National Chairman of the party who they believe is working for president Buhari and the APC led federal government.
You will recall that even as the ruling party in Nigeria for 16 years, the party was always encumbered with several intra-party crises, which it has always managed to overcome, latching on the incumbency factor, government’s largesse and others but the present leadership tussle may be the last straw for the once great and self acclaimed largest party in Africa.
A source close to governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said: “The governor with his other brothers (governors of the party) are already thinking of Plan B which is to leave the party for Ali Modu Sheriff and form a new party.”
