The leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has vowed that the All Progressives Congress, APC will be resisted by his group to take over the leadership of Anambra State, Daily Sun reports.
He made the declaration while absolving Governor Willie Obiano from blame over the 2016 Igbo Day killings of his comrades at Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Speaking during a surprise visit to Eze Eri of Aguleri, Eze Chukwuemeka Eric, at Obu-Gad, the ancestral birthplace of Ndigbo, he said Governor Obiano contrary to the campaign of the opposition campaign of calumny against the governor on the social media, Obiano had no hands in the killings.
It would, therefore, be wrong to blame the sin committed by one man on another for he has always stood against injustice which forms the basis of his agitation.
He said: “I have said it again and again that there was never a time that our brother, the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, directed the Nigerian Police or the Nigerian Army to shoot our brothers. I cannot in good conscience blame an innocent man for another man’s crimes. I cannot be a party to that.”
The IPOB leader said he was once the UK chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) adding that his group played an important role that led to the victory of Governor Obiano in 2013.
Kanu vowed that all attempts by the APC to take over Anambra State would be stoutly resisted by his group.

He spoke on the need for the All Progressives Grand Alliance to retain its foothold in Anambra State.
He also said: “Although many people are not aware of it, we were the ones who voted massively for Governor Obiano in 2013 to give him victory at the polls.”
Speaking further, Kanu said “The only grouse we had about him was that he did not acknowledge that the victims of the killings were his brothers. But we have forgiven him because he is our brother and a wise man does not nurse a prolonged grudge against his own brother. We have forgiven him.”
The IPOB leader observed that Governor Willie Obiano was from Aguleri, a historically important town to Ndigbo and should, therefore, be supported by the Igbo people in the coming election to enable clinch victory in the forth-coming Anambra gubernatorial election.
