Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, through the Chief Justice Of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has approved the appointment of Hadizatu Mustapha, as the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.
The approval came on the heels of allegations against the Acting President, that he has been appointing only Yorubas and his church members into juicy position, since President Muhammadu Buhari went on medical leave.
Although, sources in the Presidency had debunked the allegation which has created animosity between Osinbajo’s government and the north.
Mustapha will replace the current Chief Registrar, Ahmad Gambo Saleh, who will assume new responsibility as the Secretary of the National Judicial Council, on July 1, 2017.
Mustapha emerged from a strong field of six applicants interviewed by the FJSC, headed by its Chairman, the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria, on Tuesday, 30th May, 2017.
Until her appointment, Mustapha, was the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Born in Gwoza, Borno State, on the 8th August, 1961, Mrs. Hadizatu Mustapha, holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from the University of Maiduguri, which she earned in 1984, before attending the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, for her Barrister at Law (BL) programme, in 1985.
