Dr Izuogu, a chieftain of Nigeria's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress has lamented the non-inclusion of Nigerians from other tribes and religion to Buhari's security chiefs as a huge deceit and disappointment.
He said this was a gross departure from what they originally agreed on during the 2015 presidential campaign.
This was disclosed while fielding questions in an interview.
Dr Izuogu further lamented that although he campaigned vigorously for President Buhari to ensure his victory in the last presidential election, but event playing out today has left him and others hugely disappointed.
According to him, ''On the issue of security, I am very surprised that most of the security chiefs are from one part of the country and they belong to a certain religion. President Buhari never mentioned that when we were campaigning for him. He never said he was going to do that kind of thing. So, I feel disappointed because that does not unite the country.
To douse tension this has caused in the country and erase mutual suspicion, he advised that the appointment must reflect the federal character to ensure all sections of the country are represented.
He said, ''As they are starting their third year, they should change the security setting immediately. There should be Yoruba, Igbo, Tivs and other tribes in the country. There should be people from the Niger Delta area. It should not be one ethnic region or religion. It does not promote unity in the country at all. I am a chieftain of the APC and a member of the national caucus and a member of the Board of Trustees and Buhari never told us he was going to do that.''
