AS the rumour of President Buhari's death continues to spread like wildfire unabated which is being refuted by the presidency, Onwusoanya Jones minced no words in saying what his death would cost the Igbos.
He stated this in his piece. He said it is very obvious under the existing circumstances that Igbos do not like President Buhari and from all indications want him dead but went on to remind them the dangers inherent in what it would cause the people of the region.
Expressing his opinion further Onwusoanya said they would in the ned be the biggest losers the All Progressives Congress offers them the opportunity to attain the presidency position in 2023.
On the contrary, he said a Buhari death which is not unsual since death awaits all men will further delay the Igbos presidency opportunity.
Read his opinion below:
''It should be the prayers of every Igbo desirous of our political emancipation that nothing bad happens to our President. As bad as he has treated us, completing his tenure is one of the surest ways an Ignorant man can become President in the near future.
Yaradua's death in 2010 is the reason why an Igbo is not President of Nigeria from 2015. Should Buhari fail to complete his tenure, then the Igbos may have to wait for another 16years before they can make any credible push for the presidency. An Osibanjo presidency (God forbids) will most likely last for ten years, after which the Hausas will make a desperate push to take at least, another eight years.
No matter how much hatred you may have in your heart for the APC and Buhari, think the political future of the Igbo nation and join hands with Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha to play this political card in the interest of our people. After all, all politics is local.
The reality that things have not really panned out the way we expected for our economy is indubitable, but Buhari's death or incapacitation will not be the magic that will heal our nation. The turmoil that the transition of power to Osibanjo will generate may further plunge us into a messier economic, political, social and even religious quagmire.''
