Allegedly unperturbed of the carnage being perpetrated by the Fulani Herdsmen in Kaduna, the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has allegedly started wooing his political detractors, with plots of land and juicy contracts, without recourse to due progress.
Recall, that no fewer than 808 people have been killed in the on-going attacks on communities, by suspected armed Herdsmen in Southern Kaduna.
This came as some of the loyalists and supporters of Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central, were reported to have defected to the camp of the Governor, because of the juicy offers.
Recall also, that Shehu Sani and El-Rufai have been at dagger drawn, since the inception of the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration in the State, subsequently leading to the suspension of the Senator from the party.
Furthermore, one Shiek Abdulazziz, a supposedly loyalist to Shehu Sani, had recently announced his defection to El-Rufai’s camp, through the Governor’s Special Assistant on politics, Uba Sani.
He wrote: “As I once said earlier, when I was with Shehu Sani’s camp, all I need is recognition. Yesterday we were invited by his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and we had a fruitful discussion.”
He added: “The Governor in his kind gesture, forgave all of us for been deceived earlier in the name of struggle. At least each and every attendant was given 200 thousand, a plot of land, and a contract, Alhamdu Lillahi. Later, the Governor through his Political Aide, promised to continue financing my education.”
Reacting to the claim that Sheik defected from his political camp to join forces with El-Rufai, the Senator said: “I do not know Shiek Abdulaziz, and he never belonged to my camp, as he claimed.
“Governor El-Rufai invited him and few others through his S.A Political Affairs, Mallam Uba Sani, and gave each of them N200,000, a plot of land, and a contract for defecting from my camp. Honestly, they don’t belong to my camp, hence, Mr. Governor has been duped,” Sani said.
Though, many sources confirmed that Shiek Abdulaziz actually belonged to the political camp of Shehu Sani.
However, all efforts made by Post-Nigeria to get in touch the El-Rufai’s Special Assistant, Sani Uba, proved abortive, as he did not respond to his calls, or reply the text message that was sent to him.
Speaking, a Kaduna resident called on Senator Sani Shehu, to focus on his Legislative duties in the National Assembly, instead of attacking and castigating El-Rufai at the slightest opportunity.
The source who spoke in defence of the El-Rufai’s action said: “If Sehu Sani is interested in the Governorship seat in Kaduna come 2019, then he should make his intent public, rather than “Pulll-Down” the Governor, to make him look bad. You cannot advance your ambition by destroying another person, you should show what qualities you have, which make you better than others.”
